Summer 2008- Derby and Fruedenfest

Right after Kris & I moved to Indiana, Jamie, Brittany and Olivia came to visit. The following weekend was also Fruedenfest. Oldenburg, IN was settled by the Germans. So, appropriately, we have a German celebration of friends... not only is sauerkraut served, there is also German beer and a ton of folks ready to party with steins in hand!

While in town, Jamie, Olivia, Brittany, Mom and I went to the county fair to watch, my cousin and Olivia' s godfather, Jason in the Derby.

Miles!

And his appropriate, Indiana outfits...

Kris told me, upon buying a toy poodle, that being that he was already a toy poodle, there was no way in hell that he was to be dressed (as he bought a "bad to the bone" collar)... he is trying to make him somewhat "manly"... well, we moved to Indiana. It is cold in Indiana. The poor dog shook when I took him out... well.... I fixed that! While it started out practical, it evolved...

Colts Jersey... thanks Uncle Brad

Flannel... it's cold here!

I told you it was cold!

How cute is his "ski vest"?!

And sweater...

And coat...

He's too cute- I can't help myself!

Mexico 2008- Part 1

On our first day in Chihuahua, one of my parent's friends, Raul and Laura, invited us to one of their ranches. Many people in Mexico have ranches that typically consist of a few hectors and, what Americans would refer to as, a shack... it is nice to have a stone fence, muchless running water. It is simply a place outside of the city for most people that is not much more than a typical American back yard. Raul and Laura are not like most... Raul owns a sawmill type business that supplies lumber to the factory. They have several sizable ranches... to the tune of thousand of hectors. While Raul owns quite a business, his true love is ranching. Raul Sr. was not able to join us this particular day, but Laura and her two sons along with friends and ranch hands, gave us quite a wonderful day. Their two sons have also taken an interest in ranching... Raul Jr. is raising "porkies" and Alex prefers the cows and horses. They bar-b-que'd a small "porky" for us, showed us the rest of the porkies and took us horse back riding. It was a wonderful hanging out with Raul & Alex's friends... drank a lot of Tacate loved their company! They definitely know how to entertain! Hell, the guys even took Kris and Brad out to a local bar in Chihuahua... they must have had a hell of a time... Brad passed out on the front door step and Kris... well, he decided to climb a 15 foot cement wall to enter the house. The doors were unlocked of course...

Mom, Dad & Brad's Trip to Atlanta

In May, my mother, father and brother Brad came to visit Kris & I in Atlanta. This was the second visit for my mother and brother, but first for my father. Luckily they came to visit when they did because we moved shortly thereafter. We had a great visit. We did a lot of sight seeing, good dining and introduced my friends to a true Mexican barbeque.

You are never too old to enjoy some good putt-putt competition!

After Mom & Dad left, Brad stayed for a few more days and we went to a free Randy Travis concert... not a huge fan, but was still fun being that it was at an outdoor ampitheater!
